Subject Re: bilingualism is an asset in itself

Another advantage that biliteracy will have on the children is that the children will have more educational and learning resources available to them. they will also be able to immerse themselves in the primary literature and culture that will otherwise be unavailable if they maintain themselves as monolingual. for example, reading the book of 道德經 in original chinese script will be very different from reading the translated version of it. one's perception of the book will not be limited by the those who translate the scripts. furthermore, the biliterate children, often having to perform code-switching in their mind, have broader selection of language expression in their life, thus making them more culturally and linguistically sensitive.
